I just went over an exciting new article: a friend of mine is suffering from a sudden blindness called LOHN when she passed 18. From one week to the other she lost vision from one eye and the following week from the other eye. She is very brave and adapted with lot of self-confidence to this new situation. Now she has retired being close to 60, and she has a dog to help her in her day-to-day life. She learnt that she is carrying this gene defect that procates LOHN, making the optical nerve cells 90% unefficient.
This story brought my interest in LHON and many other orphan illness that, for most of them, have no treatment…
